Independent living

Doing things by yourself is a good thing, getting the job done is also good but can we all admit we need help at some areas of our lives? I would classify myself as someone that’s independent, I like doing things myself and pursuing my dreams when I know that’s why I truly want (that’s when I become stubborn). But I have to admit that I have learnt to ask for help when I need it or when I don’t understand something. I don’t like when I’m being held back by someone when I want to do something that’s really on my mind. Asking for help is not bad, being open to the fact that you don’t understand something isn’t bad either. I have come to that realization. I remember when I used to be shy to ask for help or I wouldn’t ask questions because I don’t want to person to think I’m dumb. Being independent is very good, I mean having the sense of authority over your life and what you want to do plus doing it, it gives this sense of achievement or accomplishment. The Macmillan dictionary meaning of independent is not depending on other people for help, or preferring to do things by yourself. Well for now, I would say I’m not fully independent, I mean I still gain support from family while finding my own means but in terms of where I’ve gotten so far, I prefer to do things myself because I don’t want anyone to delay my progress.
Feel free to share your independent journey and how it has been so far.
