Childhood dreams & careers (my childhood)

In this blog post, I’ll be going a little personal. Growing up, I was a very quiet and shy child, not really outspoken. I used to cry a lot growing up as a child. For instance, I wouldn’t let anyone else carry me apart from my mom. They could only carry me when I’m asleep but the minute I wake up and figure out it’s not my mom then I would let out a loud cry. I couldn’t say what I wanted, not that I was dumb but I would say I’ve always liked attention from a young age. Not a lot of attention, I mean I wasn’t an attention seeker. I remember growing up and I would just sit and be sad then my mother would come to me and ask me what I wanted or what the problem was but I wouldn’t say anything and then she would leave me. But luckily my uncle (my mom’s cousin) was staying with us so he had my time, he would stay and wait and ask me what the problem was until I say something and I would eventually talk.

In my early secondary school years, I was an arts student, I wanted to become a journalist because I love writing but the dream died. Then from year 11 & 12, I wanted to become a dentist because I’ve always wanted braces and I couldn’t get so I wanted to proffer help to people who may be having teeth problem and don’t have any financial assistance. I was probably going to start a foundation for that but it didn’t happen (btw I later got braces in my university and they’re off now). Fast forward to college where I took human resource management as a course and instantly fell in love with it and decided to continue it till university and that’s how I found my passion in terms of career.

Kindly share what you wanted to become when you were younger and what you are currently doing.
